About me
My name is Deborah Beard and I find great joy in helping couples learn how to make healthy connections. I was trained to work with couples alongside my husband; we graduated together with our Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1996. I use research based tools from Dr. Gottman and Dr. Amen, along with Rational Emotive Therapy and an emphasis on the couple’s faith and moral foundation.
My introductory sessions help couples to focus on their strengths, and my first assignments will gently introduce them to my methods of building connections. As we become more familiar, we will focus on how to both recognize and break cycles of unhealthy conflict and how to replace these cycles with healthy habits. Emotion Focused Therapy and trauma history may be explored to enhance each couples’ ability to calm tension and confront their difficult communication history together. Active listening, recognition of triggers, and "flooding" will be addressed as needed in my couple's skill-building courses as well.

I have never participated in any type of therapy up until now. Deborah opened my eyes and showed me how much therapy can help not only myself but my relationship with everyone else around me most importantly, my wife and children.

Deborah is the best therapist I’ve ever had. Compassionate, empathetic, timely, and always comes up with good exercises to practice out of therapy. She has an abundance of expertise in mental health and offers great insight every session.

Deborah has been such a great support for me. She is patient, wise, caring, and a good listener. She is great at helping me find solutions to my problems. She helps me by outlining the steps I need to take to move towards those solutions and especially how I can take better care of myself.
