About me
My name is Gale Kelley and I am a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.), in Clinical Psychology and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. Over the past sixteen years I have provided couples’ counseling to individuals from various backgrounds who find themselves faced with a range of situational stresses. From a client-centered perspective, I believe that when couples seek therapeutic assistance, they are hoping to find solutions which they may not have considered. Couples learn to view the relationship from a more objective perspective that can eliminate the ‘blame game’. Instead, they re-discover the resources each partner brings and how they can be incorporated to strengthen the resiliency of the union. The relationship will be the focus of treatment rather than the individuals involved.
My therapeutic approach is to improve communication skills, which involves listening skills as well. I am particularly drawn to psychoeducation to help my clients better understand attachment patterns and how our earliest relationships as infants can influence relationships we have with romantic partners, our children, and co-workers. My philosophy is that the more we know, the better we understand, and the better we understand, the more likely we are to engage. Unfortunately, many couples seek couples therapy when a significant amount of damage has already been done. Maladaptive relational patterns have become entrenched, the emotional bond between partners has been severely weakened and there is a high level of resentment due to unresolved past conflicts. However, most couples can come away from couples therapy having gained insight into relational patterns, increased emotional expression and developed the skills necessary to communicate and problem-solve with their partners more effectively.
I wholeheartedly encourage a collaborative working relationship and will monitor the progress throughout the therapeutic process. My clients can expect to have a take-away (something that will improve a current situation) from every session. This can be a new perspective of an ongoing problem or an emotional regulation skill that can help individuals better manage situations that cannot change. I pride myself on providing personalized, comprehensive health care that focuses on wellness and prevention.

Throughly impressed with her knowledge and how she communicates and relates to us. I feel that with her help our lives are starting to improve greatly and we've only just begun.
Dr. Kelley is kind, warm, and very knowledgeable. She offers plenty of resources outside of counseling as well.
