About me
I am a multistate Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with an Associates Degree in Substance Abuse Counseling and a Master’s Degree in Social Welfare from SUNY Stony Brook. I have been providing mental health and substance abuse treatment in both in-patient and outpatient non-profit settings for over 19 years. My primary focus has been on providing services to the most vulnerable individuals within our community. Working with people is a passion and I look forward to using my clinical skills to support relationship and personal goals.
I believe that through motivational interviewing and the treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance abuse can be successful. Counseling is focused on developing and reaching relationship goals. In addition to overall mental health treatment, I work with couples to create concrete goal plans with tangible action steps. This includes helping couples with life and career changes by providing coaching style interventions for work/life-related growth. I provide focused interventions that help couples accomplish the goals that are most important to their relationship. Honoring and supporting personal goals allows for new growth and increased knowledge. This therapeutic approach focuses on encouraging and assisting individuals and couples to develop perseverance, become more flexible, and increase self-worth through evidence based social work modalities
I look forward to speaking with you soon!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jason Vandewater. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
Jason is great and caring. He is exactly what we needed.
Jason is a great listener and offers many different healthy ways of viewing situations. He is kind and patient. Would highly recommend him.
Very educated and professional. Highly recommend. This is from a guy that is very standoffish about therapy. Thanks Jason. Keep up the great work.
coming back to regain to speak with jason. he was very helpful in the past. relatable, intelligent, insightful, and funny
I have been working with Jason since November 2022. At the time, I had entered the world of therapy with a specific purpose to reconcile my current relationship. After our first session I was very comfortable with sharing and uncovering how I got to where I was. Jason made me feel heard and truly showed that he understood both mine and my partner's individual viewpoints. Jason was able to then challenge us in the most supportive ways, to go beyond our 45-minute sessions and implement healthy habits throughout the week. As we progressed through sessions, I was able to begin solo work and dive more into my history. Jason was even able to in part valuable tools to help me reduce anxiety as I embarked on applying, interviewing and accepting a new position. I value his opinion and am grateful for his consistency. He starts promptly and makes the most of each session. I highly recommend Jason as a trusted therapist.
Excellent listener and very professional.
Even though we are in the early parts of therapy, I knew Jason was IT from the second we met with him. I'm extremely comfortable with him and that says a lot coming from me. I look forward to learning and growing as a person and being a better homie, lover, friend to partner.
Jason has helped me understand myself in a way that that has enabled me to find contentment in my life. He has helped my wife and I strengthen our relationship and brought up closer together.
I have really appreciated Jason’s insights and support through one of the more difficult aspects of my life. Jason has helped me garner a more effective understanding of my growth areas and develop new strategies to address them.
