About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Doctorate in Behavioral Health and over ten years of mental health experience. I am also a former active-duty military officer. My education includes a B.S. in psychology, a Master's in Health Service Administration, a Master's in Social Work, and a Master's in Legal Studies. I also have a doctorate in behavioral health (clinical) and five years of integrated care study.
I use a holistic approach and solution-focused approach when providing therapy to my clients, which involves assessing if a client has co-morbid issues such as diabetes and depression or chronic pain and anxiety. I believe it is vital to assist clients with health management while addressing mental health issues. I am caring and compassionate and recognize that there is still a stigma associated with seeking mental health treatment. As a result, I appreciate anyone who takes time to care for their state of mind, as it is just as important as maintaining physical health. Additional treatment modalities I use include mindfulness practice, dialectal behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing.
In addition to providing services to the civilian population, I have experience working with the military community, active duty, reserve, National Guard, and veterans. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, and personality disorders, i.e., borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorders, trauma, sexual abuse, self-esteem issues, and PTSD. I am a military Victim Advocate who completed Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), which provides me with additional skills to assist those who are survivors/victims of sexual assault and to intervene appropriately and prevent the risk of suicidal thoughts and suicidal behaviors. I also have experience working with clients dealing with substance abuse issues, adjustment problems, grief and loss, and work-related stressors.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Sonya Boone. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with Regain might be different.
knowledgeable.
Assertive but in such a compassionate way it motivates change.
We have only had a few sessions but Dr Boones approach is peaceful and well coordinated.
My husband and I look forward to our sessions. So far we are happy we invested the money and time with the services Regain offers.
She is very supportive and kind.
Great listener. Great counselor.
Sonya is a strong professional who has been assisting my wife and I for going on two months. We simply love how she communicates fairly with both of us and never picks sides. This allows both of us to feel that our needs/wants are being heard. I would highly recommend Sonya to any couple or persons looking to better themselves or their marriage. She truly is one of a kind.
She's the best to come into my life and help me she's been very helpful since I've started.
Sonya is the best ! She has helped us with our relationship, I recommend her. She is a great listener and give us the tools to work on our problems.
Sonya provides a neutral sounding board for couples. She listened and asked the right questions. She gave great homework that really honed in on our areas of improvement. Through therapy I discovered that I did not want to continue the relationship. Sonya was able to provide a couple joint sessions and a couple individual sessions to close out the relationship which really helped out.
She’s just great.
Sonya has definitely found her calling. She is an incredible listener, immediately pinpoints our problems even when we don’t see them ourselves, and offers actionable solutions. She has taken us from what we felt was a situation with no good prospects to one where we have hope, optimism, and a united mindset. She is an incredible counselor and we are very grateful for her.
We are off to a good start with Ms. Boone, she is providing us some very useful tools to use as we embark on this journey of marriage counseling. Her active listening skills are apparent based on the feedback she gives with practical solution based guidance. She provides workbooks that my wife and I can use to tackle marital as well as individuals obstacles that only help improve our overall situation. I would recommend her to any and everyone regardless of your need.
My husband and I absolutely love Sonya! We bonded with her immediately and she has been very helpful!
I have just begun recently with Sonya, but so far, I have been so encouraged by her wisdom and expertise. I have posted several messages and she always responds to them in a timely manner. I also appreciate how she has pointed me toward the Lord and His ways! She is kind and compassionate, but also honest and speaks the truth in love. I'm thankful for her!
