About me

I am licensed in SC, VA and WV (soon to be licensed in MD on an LCSW-C level). I have 38 years of post-graduate professional experience as a Master of Social Work (MSW, 1986).

I have experience in many settings advocating and assisting clients with the

> mitigation of stress and anxiety,
> bereavement process of an approaching death, the process of grieving, and other significant losses,
> education of research-based knowledge and dynamics of adversity, a and trauma,
> recovery and self-advocacy from adversity, significant losses, and trauma,
> management of mood issues and motivation,
> navigation through expected and developmental challenges,
> strategies to contend with unplanned, life-changing experiences,
> definitions of substance use, abuse, addiction, dependence, other compulsions, treatment, sobriety, abstinence, and recovery,
> pathways to learning healthier self-care, and the
> management of an acute and/or chronic illness.

I am open to serving couples * through the framework and goals to -
> learn the principles of trust,
> apply a structure for sufficient self-awareness and accountability,
> improve communication to a functional level, and
> strengthen their emotional intimacy with each other based on
the identification of barriers,
each person's assessed individual traits and level of development,
and behaviors that are congruent with the stated values and agreed upon goals.

* I inform clients that I do not have the credential of LMFT - Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, which is a rigorous, post-graduate program. If your need is severe, or if there are patterns of rigid beliefs and long-term problems, I suggest that you seek services from an LMFT.

Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am do my best to serve clients with earnest effort, integrity, and direct communication.
